A new beginning awaited the 80 phenomenal women who chartered Xi Zeta Omega on January 16, 1982. Xi Zeta Omega celebrated its chartering during the 74th anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha on the hallowed grounds of the Sorority's founding - Howard University. The history of Xi Zeta Omega will forever reflect the significance as to the date and place of its chartering. What the members of Xi Zeta Omega have done and achieved over the years is in keeping with the charter members' creative spirits. From its inception to the present time, Xi Zeta Omega has focused its activities on implementing the Sorority's programs and the establishment and development of programs to benefit the Washington, DC community.

For more than 35 years, members of Xi Zeta Omega have been committed to honoring the legacy of our founders. Xi Zeta Omega has sponsored numerous programs and activities to address social ills, encourage academic achievement, promote social justice and empower youth and families in the District of Columbia and greater metropolitan area. Today, our more than 230 members continue to "be of service to all mankind."
Our members are devoted to using their unique talents to elevate our sisterhood, in scholarship and service. Our goal is to focus on youth and families most in need. Xi Zeta Omega service in the community attracts like- minded organizations and corporations to partner with us to promote higher education and improve areas with social and economic challenges.
